EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma from an accredited high school or hold a GED. A
minimum of three years full-time, wage earning experience in general
clerical/secretarial duties. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Skill to interpret and apply rules, policies, and procedures. Ability to organize, maintain correspondence
and files. Knowledge of agency and departmental policies.
TYPING SKILLS: Must type 45 words per
minute with no more than 10 errors. Verifiable FIVE minute typing score
must be submitted with the application packet by the application
deadline. All applicants must have a typing test administered by the
Texas Workforce Commission or the Institutional Division by a TDCJ Unit or
Department Personnel Representative.

PARTIAL SUMMARY OF
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Composes, types, and proofreads various correspondences to include memos,
letters, forms, and reports. Receives and forwards incoming calls for the
regional office. Prepares correspondence and responds to routine inquires from
staff and public concerning regional/unit programs. Utilizes appropriate
information systems and documents necessary to maintain a current and effective
knowledge base of all rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Maintains
accurate inventories of equipment, supplies, educational materials, and
textbooks for the regional office. Assists in the preparation of purchase
requisitions for supplies and equipment for the regional office. Assists in
maintaining leave records for staff. Maintains computer files, documents, and
reports. Prepares various monthly, bi-monthly, and annual reports as needed.
Provide routine operational assistance to regional, unit and contracted staff.
Maintains confidentiality in handling sensitive information received in the
performance of the job duties. Performs duties in a professional manner through
daily, punctual attendance at location of work assignment.
